January 2018 Wrap-Up

I got a good start to the new year with a total of 10 books read in January. To start off with a couple of quick graphic novels I read Ms. Marvel Vol. 8: Mecca, Batman Vol.4: The War of Jokes and Riddles, and Saga Vol. 8. Ms. Marvel and Batman got 4/5 stars because for me they were good but not as good as the beginning of the series. As for Saga, I gave it 5/5 stars because Brian K. Vaughan never disappoints, and the story is still going strong for me.

Next up I caught up with the Shadowhunters Chronicles by reading Lady Midnight, Lord of Shadows, and An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunter & Denizens of Downworld, all by Cassandra Clare. I gave them all 5/5 stars, and I can now say I have some new favorite books! Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows were so amazing and definitely are the best of her works so far, and I can't wait for Queen of Air and Darkness to come out!

I also finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which I was reading for school, and I gave it 5/5 stars. While I was reading it I wasn't too fond of it, but once I finished it I really enjoyed it. I can say it's definitely one of my new favorite classics and one of the best books I've had to read for school

Up next I have Red Rising by Pierce Brown which I absolutely loved. My favorite booktuber Piera Forde raves about this series, so naturally, I bought all of the books and am glad I did. I want to catch up with the series this year, but as of now, I gave Red Rising a 5/5.

The next book was on my most anticipated reads for 2018 list and it is Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman which got 5/5 from me. I loved the world of Scythe and was so excited for this book and I'm glad it didn't disappoint me. The next book The Toll comes out in 2019 and I'm eagerly awaiting it now!

The final book is one I've been meaning to read for a while and it is Simon Vs. the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, and I'm so glad I've finally read it. When I began it I was a little unsure but about 50 pages in I was totally hooked. It's now on my favorite books list and I'm really considering rereading it now.

So there's the 10 books I've read this month. I'm sorry for not having an Owlcrate unboxing this month because my subscription wasn't renewed until this month, but from here on out, I will have them. Until next time, bye!
