Clinging to unrealistic, childlike visions of life-pseudo-innocence-takes many forms. Whether it's continuing to believe in the illusions that goodness will be rewarded, that someone will always take care of us, or that happiness results from doing what pleases others, by losing our childhoo innocence without losing the ability to trust, we can shed old behavior patterns and learn to live on our own as adults.
